“Hope for Latin Children has been a huge help to the girls at Hogar Montiel, a home for children ages 5 to 12 who are at social risk. They have donated all the books and school supplies the girls needed to start the year, making sure they have the tools to learn and grow. Their support goes beyond just materials. They truly care about the children’s future. Thanks to them, these girls have a better chance at education and a brighter tomorrow.”
Hogar Montiel, Santa Ana, Costa Rica
"The Hope FLC crew has significantly impacted the local school in the remote community of Cabo Matapalo, Costa Rica. They provided essential supplies to students who would not have had access to them otherwise. During their visit, they spent time with the students, demonstrating how to use the new supplies, engaging in conversations, and getting to know them better. It was very special for the students and the supplies will continue to improve the learning environment for years to come.

Giving back is easy!
A small donation has the power to radically impact a child.
Hi, I'm Patrick.
I’ve been coming to Costa Rica to surf since the ‘80s, previously owned property in Panama and have traveled extensively in Latin America. I first came to Costa Rica with a Christian organization in 1986 to help construct classrooms for a Church / Christian school in Escazu, which at the time, was a small community in the hills adjacent to the Capital city of San Jose. After that initial trip, I returned to Costa Rica to fish and surf. Over the years of traveling in Latin America, I noticed areas of severe poverty, especially in Colombia and Nicaragua, but also in Panama and Costa Rica. But it was not until I moved to Costa Rica that I became fully aware — Beneath the beauty, too many kids are fighting battles they shouldn’t have to fight. I wanted to help! -- It hit me: a country’s future depends on raising healthy, happy, educated kids.
As I've traveled through various countries in Latin America, I've met locals doing incredible work with poor, at-risk children. These locals have heart and grit but no time or resources to chase outside funding.
In my career, I specialized at making connections... connecting people; connecting companies. So I began thinking—what if I could do the same for these grassroots heroes -- make connections -- and be a voice that brings them the support they need to help at-risk kids thrive? I knew how to vet opportunities, make lasting connections and advocate on behalf of my clients. Why not advocate on behalf of latin children in need of basic necessities and the local heroes diligently working to feed, cloth and educate these kids?
So, I started Hope For Latin Children—a no-BS, direct-impact charity that makes giving simple, trustworthy, and effective.
We’re no-nonsense and 100% transparent. Every dollar you donate goes straight to supporting kids—no overhead, no salaries, no BS. We also work with trusted, grassroots organizations that are deeply embedded in their communities. These are the local heroes who know exactly what their kids need to thrive.
You’ll see it. We post real updates to our site—stories, photos, and measurable results from our partners—showing exactly how your contribution improves the lives of at-risk children. You can choose to stay in the loop as much or as little as you like.
Yep! HFLC is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit in the United States; registered as, “Latin Children’s Fund” DBA Hope For Latin Children. That means your donations are tax-deductible.
We currently have a board of directors consisting of Patrick Hannan, Andrew Wight, Robert Hannan and Karen Pasquerillo. We are in the process of implementing an Adult Advisory Board as well as a Youth Advisory Board to assist us with continuing to identify and vet organizations in need of financial support. We’re picky—in a good way. Every partner organization is thoroughly evaluated for accountability, transparency, and impact. We stay in regular contact and conduct reviews to ensure donations are being used responsibly and effectively to directly improve the lives of children.
We invest in sustainable solutions—things like education and healthcare that empower kids and communities for the long haul. By partnering with grassroots organizations, we help foster self-sufficiency and long-term development so these communities can continue thriving on their own.
